Apple Watch Series 8 May Feature Satellite Connectivity: Details

New Delhi: After the upcoming iPhone 14 line, the Apple Watch Series 8 is now rumoured to come with satellite connectivity. The satellite connectivity feature in the Apple Watch Series 8 may arrive this year or in 2023, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. In his "Power On newsletter", Gurman has mentioned that the Apple Watch is destined to get satellite connectivity, but he believes that the iPhone maker's timeframe could be this year or 2023.

According to previous leaks and rumours, Apple is also working to enable LEO satellite communication to make calls and messages without a 4G or 5G mobile connection that did not arrive with last year's iPhone 13 line. Gurman had also indicated last year that the satellite communication connectivity may not launch with the iPhone 13 by saying the "hardware wasn’t ready yet" for the new phones.

If the feature launches this year with the iPhone 14 series, it is possible that it will be restricted to key markets only. 

Apple is likely to refresh its iPhone line and the Apple Watch series later this year fall. According to a previous report this month, the company has encountered accuracy challenges while testing a much-anticipated blood pressure detection feature. The Apple Watch 8 Series would not get the much-talked-about blood pressure monitoring feature and the technology is not likely to be ready until 2024.

Apple Inc.’s plan to add a highly anticipated blood-pressure monitor to its smartwatch has hit some snags and the technology isn’t expected to be ready until 2024 at the earliest, according to people with knowledge of the matter, according to a report by news agency Bloomberg. Earlier last year, a Nikkei report had suggested that blood pressure monitoring would arrive with the Apple Watch Series 7, but as correctly predicted by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, it did not happen.
