Apple Rolling Out iOS 15.4.1 And iPadOS 15.4.1 For Supported Models To Fix Battery Drain. Details
The iOS 15.4.1 update is not incremental and does not bring major updates, but it brings the fix for the battery drain issue.
New Delhi: Days after iPhone users had reported facing strange battery drain issues post the iOS 15.4 update, Apple has started to roll out a new update, the iOS 15.4.1 for all supported iPhone models along with iPadOS 15.4.1 for all supported tablet models. Clearly, the iOS 15.4.1 update is not incremental and does not bring major updates, but it brings the fix for the battery drain issue that has been hurting some iPhone users. The iPhone maker is also introducing HomePod 15.4.1 update to fix a glitch related to its smart assistant Siri.
Earlier in March, the Cupertino, California-based tech giant had rolled out the iOS 15.4 and iPadOS 15.4 update that started to affect some users with strange battery drain issues. There were multiple reports online that mentioned how the iOS update had given way to reduced battery life on the iPhone 13 Pro Max while some iPhone 11 users said they lost around 80 per cent of the battery in 24 hours.
Now, Apple is rolling out iOS 15.4.1 update, in a bid to address the issues, according to the company's official release notes. The company usually does not confirm such issues, however, according to Apple Support Twitter account, iPhone users who had complained of battery drain were told that it was normal for apps and features to need up to 2 days to adjust after an update. Also, the new iOS 15.4.1 and iPadOS 15.4.1 update brings a fix to a security issue within the AppleAVD media decoder that would let an attacker execute arbitrary code with kernel privileges.
As mentioned before, the iOS 15.4 update that Apple rolled out some time back adds the ability to unlock devices while having a face mask on. The latest update from the iPhone maker will function as the normal Face ID, but scan the areas around the user's eyes for authentication. Apple had also announced it was also rolling out iPadOS 15.4 which adds features such as Universal Control, thus, letting multiple Macs and iPads be controlled with the same mouse or trackpad and keyboard.
