iPhone SE 4 To Drop Home Button For Face ID & Action Button, Leaked Image Shows: What We Know So Far

Case manufacturers like Spigen often gain early access to smartphone designs to develop accessories in time for product launches, lending credibility to these leaks.

Apple’s upcoming iPhone SE 4 may have just been revealed ahead of its anticipated launch this week, thanks to an apparent slip-up by case maker Spigen. A product listing on the company’s website, which was quickly removed, showcased images hinting at the phone's possible design, sparking interest among tech enthusiasts.

The leaked images, spotted by a Redditor, suggest that the fourth-generation iPhone SE will bear a strong resemblance to the iPhone 14. The phone appears to feature a display notch rather than the newer Dynamic Island design seen on Apple's latest models.

Additionally, the placement of the power and volume buttons seems consistent with previous designs. And of course, falling in line with earlier leaks, Apple seems to have parted ways with the Home button, which was a staple for the iPhone SE lineup so far. Face ID is expected to come in as the security checker instead.

What's New For iPhone SE 4?

Interestingly, the leaked case images hint at a notable change on the device’s left side — the possible introduction of an Action Button, similar to what debuted with the iPhone 15 Pro. This would mark a departure from the traditional mute switch found on earlier models. However, unlike Apple’s most recent flagship devices, no dedicated camera button was evident in the images. The rear of the phone features a single camera, similar to the setup on the iPhone SE 2022.

Case manufacturers like Spigen often gain early access to smartphone designs to develop accessories in time for product launches, lending credibility to these leaks. Despite the swift removal of the listing, screenshots circulated widely on forums such as Reddit.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman recently reported that Apple is gearing up to introduce the successor to the iPhone SE (2022) imminently, which aligns with the timing of the leaked Spigen images.

iPhone SE 4 Specifications (Expected)

Rumours suggest the iPhone SE 4 will receive several hardware upgrades compared to its predecessor. It may feature Apple’s A18 chip, similar to what is expected in the iPhone 16 lineup, paired with 8GB of RAM. Additionally, the device is likely to sport a 6.1-inch OLED display, replacing the older 4.7-inch LCD panel.

Other speculated enhancements include support for Face ID, a larger battery, and compliance with EU regulations by swapping the Lightning port for a USB Type-C port. These changes, if true, would represent a significant evolution for Apple’s more affordable iPhone offering.

With an official announcement possibly just days away, the leaked images provide an intriguing glimpse into what could be Apple's next budget-friendly smartphone.
