Unlike Apple’s traditional high-profile in-person launch events, this unveiling is expected to follow a streamlined approach, similar to last year’s iPad Pro launch, which was presented through a video announcement on YouTube, Apple TV+, and Apple's official website.
A New Budget iPhone In The Making?
Rumours have been circulating about Apple’s plans to refresh its budget-friendly iPhone SE series, and reports suggest that the latest iteration will feature a considerable design overhaul.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman recently speculated that the upcoming product could be "a new low-end iPhone," aligning with expectations that Apple is bringing notable upgrades to its most affordable handset.
iPhone SE 4: Expected Features, Specifications
The upcoming iPhone SE 4 is expected to abandon the traditional iPhone 8-inspired design in favour of a more contemporary look. Leaks suggest it will adopt a flat-edged frame and a glass back reminiscent of the iPhone 14. One of the biggest shifts is anticipated in the display department, with reports indicating a 6.06-inch OLED panel replacing the older LCD screen. This screen may support a resolution of 2532x1170 pixels, a peak brightness of 800 nits, and a 60Hz refresh rate, aligning with Apple’s base iPhone 16 models.
Performance-wise, the device is rumoured to feature Apple’s latest A18 chip, the same processor expected in the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus. The inclusion of 8GB of RAM could bring it in line with Apple’s flagship devices, allowing for smoother performance and enhanced AI capabilities. Storage is likely to start at 128GB, a significant upgrade from the 64GB base model of its predecessor.
Apple is also expected to equip the iPhone SE 4 with a major camera upgrade. Reports suggest a 48MP rear camera and a 12MP front-facing sensor, bringing the budget iPhone’s camera system closer to its higher-end counterparts. Another significant improvement is the battery, with leaks pointing to a capacity increase from 2,018mAh in the previous model to approximately 3,279mAh.
Additional enhancements could include Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance, and a shift to a USB-C charging port. Wireless charging via MagSafe (Qi2) is also expected to be part of the package.
