Apple's iPhone 17 Might Be The Slimmest iPhone Ever, Here's What We Know

iPhone 17 Slim is anticipated to redefine sleekness in smartphone design.

Apple is gearing up to make headlines with the launch of the iPhone 17 Slim, which is poised to claim the title of the world's thinnest smartphone. Expected to debut next year, this ultra-sleek device will likely be a standout in the iPhone 17 lineup. Reports suggest Apple may phase out one of its existing models, possibly the Plus variant from the iPhone 16 series, to introduce this new Slim version. Measuring an astonishingly thin 6mm, the device could even carry the name "iPhone 17 Air," adding to its distinct identity.

As the slimmest smartphone on the market, the iPhone 17 Slim is anticipated to redefine sleekness in smartphone design. Analyst Jeff Poo has highlighted the model’s remarkable design, noting its extreme thinness. Apple’s last major effort to create an ultra-thin iPhone dates back nearly a decade, with models prior to the iPhone 6 ranging between 7.6mm and 12.3mm in thickness.

For context, the current iPhone 16 series ranges from 7.8mm to 8.25mm. To achieve this unprecedented slim profile, Apple is expected to adopt an aluminium chassis for the standard models in the iPhone 17 lineup, while reserving titanium for the Pro variants, ensuring both a lightweight build and premium design.

Apple iPhone 17 Slim: Specifications (Expected)

The iPhone 17 Slim, possibly branded as the iPhone 17 Air, is expected to feature a 6.6-inch display and be powered by the cutting-edge A19 Bionic chipset, utilising advanced 3nm process technology. This new iteration is rumoured to come equipped with 8GB of RAM, offering a noticeable performance improvement. One of the most exciting changes is anticipated to be in the front-facing camera, which could see an upgrade to a remarkable 24MP, doubling the resolution of its predecessor.

On the back, the iPhone 17 Slim/Air is likely to sport a single 48MP rear camera, emphasising quality over quantity in its lens setup. Its design is rumoured to differ significantly from the rest of the iPhone 17 lineup, potentially showcasing a fresh aesthetic appeal. Face ID support and sophisticated AI-driven features are also expected to enhance user experience. Additionally, speculation suggests that Apple may introduce its most budget-friendly iPhone ever, with a global launch possibly slated for September next year.
