Apple iPhone 16 Pro And 16 Pro Max May Get This Camera Upgrade

A fresh rumour says that the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max models will feature significant enhancements to the ultra-wide camera compared to the current iPhone 15 Pro Max model.

As we are edging closer to the much-anticipated launch of the Apple iPhone 16 lineup, which is likely to take place in September, new leaks and speculations are surfacing. With production of the iPhone 16 Pro and standard iPhone 16 displays scheduled to begin in June, a fresh rumour says that the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max models will feature significant enhancements to the ultra-wide camera compared to the current iPhone 15 Pro Max model.

iPhone 16 Pro And 16 Pro Max Camera Leak

According to a tipster named OvO Baby Sauce OvO, who shared insights on Chinese social media platform Weibo, suggested that the ultra-wide cameras on both the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max may feature a 48MP sensor. This sensor is expected to be 1/2.55 inches in size with 0.7µm pixel dimensions, promising more detailed images and an enhanced macro mode.

The tipster has further suggested that the Apple iPhone 16 Pro might come with a 5x zoom camera, while the zoom functionality on the iPhone 16 Pro Max is likely to remain the same as the iPhone 15 Pro Max. The main camera on the iPhone 16 Pro Max is said to get a slight upgrade with a custom 48MP Sony IMX903 sensor, featuring a 1/1.14-inch size, which is a modest improvement over the previous Sony IMX803 sensor.

Meanwhile, a recent leak also said that the upcoming Apple iPhone 16 series may undergo significant changes in design and display sizes. The iPhone Pro models, namely the purported iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max, might get larger displays, while the non-Pro models, the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus, could sport a new camera alignment altogether.

If these speculations hold true, it would mark a departure from Apple's three-year streak of maintaining consistent design and display across its handsets. Additionally, reports suggest that the iPhone 16 series could introduce capacitive buttons, adding further anticipation to this year's lineup.

According to Sonny Dickson, a reliable tipster, who recently shared an image on X (formerly Twitter), the new design and display sizes of the upcoming iPhones were seen with major changes.

As per the leaked images by the tipster, the iPhone 16 Pro is rumoured to boast a 6.3-inch display, an increase from the 6.1-inch display found on the iPhone 15 Pro. Similarly, the iPhone 16 Pro Max is expected to feature a larger 6.9-inch display, compared to the 6.7-inch display of its predecessor. Meanwhile, the standard iPhone 16 is reportedly maintaining its 6.1-inch display size, while the iPhone 16 Plus is anticipated to retain the same 6.7-inch display as its previous model.

Although the screen sizes of the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus are anticipated to remain unchanged at 6.1 and 6.7 inches, respectively, there are rumours indicating a redesigned vertical camera array to facilitate spatial video capture. It is worth noting that since the iPhone 13, Apple's non-Pro iPhone models have featured dual rear cameras arranged diagonally.
