Apple Expected To Discontinue Several Products Soon After 'Glow Time' Launch Event: iPhone 15 Pro Max, AirPods 3, More
Apple 'Glow Time' Event will see the launch of new products. It's safe to speculate that several Apple offerings will also cease production soon.
Apple is gearing up for its much-anticipated “Glow Time” event on September 9, 2024, at 10:30 PM IST, where it is expected to launch the new iPhone 16 Series along with other updated gadgets. However, with new devices on the horizon, several existing Apple products are likely to be phased out, according to reports from tech publication 9to5Mac.

Potential Discontinuation Of iPhone Models
The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, introduced just last year, are expected to be among the products discontinued following the event. This aligns with Apple’s pattern of retiring previous flagship models once new versions are launched. The iPhone 15 Pro, known for its titanium frame and distinctive Blue Titanium colour, might be the last to feature the current 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch screen sizes, as the iPhone 16 Pro models are rumoured to sport larger displays.
Another model potentially facing discontinuation is the iPhone 14 Plus. Released as a larger, more affordable alternative to the Pro Max, the iPhone 14 Plus marked the return of the “Plus” branding, which had been absent since the iPhone 8 Plus. Despite its popularity, Apple’s strategy often involves retiring some models while keeping others on the market longer, making the iPhone 14 Plus a likely candidate for retirement.
The iPhone 13, launched in 2021, could also be on the chopping block. Known for its improved battery life, upgraded camera, and smaller notch, the iPhone 13 has become one of the older models still available. It may be discontinued in favour of the iPhone 14, which could remain at the $599 price point until the iPhone SE 4 debuts.
Apple Watch Models Set For Refresh
The Apple Watch Series 9, Ultra 2, and SE 2 are all anticipated to be replaced by updated models. The Series 10 is expected to offer a sleeker design, larger displays, and a new chipset, while the Ultra 3 and SE 3 may see more modest updates. The potential discontinuation of current models reflects Apple’s strategy of refreshing its wearable lineup regularly.
AirPods, iPad Models May Also Be Phased Out
The AirPods lineup is also likely to see changes, with the entry-level AirPods 2 and the AirPods 3 potentially being discontinued. The AirPods 4, rumoured to come in both entry-level and mid-tier versions with noise cancellation, are expected to replace the older models.
Similarly, the iPad mini 6 and iPad 10 may be retired in favour of updated versions that include enhanced storage, Apple Pencil Pro compatibility, and support for Apple Intelligence. Apple’s approach of refreshing its iPad lineup while phasing out older models suggests that these changes could be announced during the upcoming event.
With Apple’s "Glow Time" event just days away, fans and industry experts alike are eager to see how the company’s product lineup will evolve and which existing models will make their exit.
