OnePlus on Wednesday announced that its flagship OnePlus 12 and OnePlus Open will be among the first smartphones to get the new Android 15 Beta 1 update.

OnePlus on Wednesday announced that its flagship OnePlus 12 and OnePlus Open will be among the first smartphones to get the new Android 15 Beta 1 update. Starting May 16 (Thursday), developers and early adopters can try out the new features and APIs on their OnePlus devices by accessing the developer version of OxygenOS, which is built around Android 15 Beta 1.

Android 15 prioritises enhancing the camera capabilities and media experience, whilst improving the connectivity, and delivers new APIs for developers to create improved applications. The operating system (OS) offers an array of features like Low Light Boost as well as new extensions like in-app camera controls, furnishing users with the tools and hardware they need to bring their visions to the fore. Furthermore, Android 15 is updated to grant applications access to the most recent advancements in communication. This enables outcomes such as a smoother NFC experience, among other improvements.

"OnePlus and Google have been in a close partnership for a considerable time, persistently working together to offer the best feasible user experience through our OxygenOS, based on successive versions of Google's Android operating systems," Kinder Liu, President and COO of OnePlus, said in a statement.

"With the advent of Android 15, we are confident that the full potential of our superior devices, like the OnePlus 12 and OnePlus Open, will be wholly realised by both developers and users," Kinder added. 

How To Download And Install Android 15 Beta On OnePlus Open And OnePlus 12

1. Download the latest ROM upgrade zip package from the OnePlus community site.
2. Transfer the ROM upgrade package to the phone's storage.
3. Navigate to Settings -> About device -> Version -> Tap Build number seven times and enter the password to access developer mode.
4. Return to Settings -> About device -> Up to date -> Tap the top right button -> Local install -> Select the corresponding installation package -> Extract -> Upgrade -> Allow the system upgrade to reach 100% completion.
5. Once the upgrade is finished, tap Restart. You are now ready to use the latest version of Android 15 OS.
