Annapurna Interactive's Situation
Annapurna Interactive, like many other publishers, collaborates with developers by funding their projects, handling QA processes, and managing the marketing and distribution of games once they're complete. In the wake of recent staff departures, partner developers have reportedly been seeking clarity on the impact of these changes.
According to Bloomberg, co-founder Hector Sanchez reassured developers that existing agreements would be upheld. Sanchez, who spent the past five years at Epic Games, has returned to Annapurna as president of Interactive + New Media. The company is expected to hire new staff to rebuild the team.
Bloomberg quoted Ellison as saying, "Our top priority is continuing to support our developer and publishing partners during this transition. We’re committed to not only our existing slate of games but also expanding our presence in the interactive space as we continue to look for opportunities to take a more integrated approach to linear and interactive storytelling across film and TV, gaming, and theater."
