The race for the best AI-driven chatbot has never been more exciting. Microsoft-backed OpenAI released the prototype for ChatGPT in November 2022 and ever since, institutions and individual users have been leveraging the chatbot for its surprisingly creative and human-like responses to solve user queries in a matter of seconds, ranging from complex codes for programmers to completing school essays for students.

Now, at the annual Google I/O 2023 developer’s conference last week, the tech giant opened access to its Bard AI to 180 countries, including India. As a result, people have been experimenting with Google’s new chatbot and sharing their experiences on social media and blogs.

While ChatGPT is indeed capable, there are certain limitations in its functionalities and features, which makes Bard AI a better chatbot to work with.

Access To Internet

Bard AI, thanks to its integration with other Google products such as Search, is always connected to the Internet. This helps in generating quick responses based on real-time information available online.

This also means that Bard AI will be able to generate responses for more timely topics, unlike ChatGPT whose knowledge is only restricted to events prior to 2021.

Image Inputs & Outputs

ChatGPT, in its prototype version, is only able to accept text prompts. Furthermore, it will only be able to generate text in response.

Bard AI, on the other hand, has the ability to generate image responses. For example, if you look up something like “Tell me about New Delhi”, chances are that Bard will show you images of some popular New Delhi landmarks as well.

It should be noted that while Google did announce the addition of image capabilities on Bard, the chatbot is yet unable to generate the same, ABP Live could verify. It’s safe to speculate that the image-generating feature will be added in the coming days.

Summarise Web Pages

Since Bard is connected to the Internet, it can summarise online articles, blogs, or just entire websites in a matter of seconds. All you need to do is share the URL with Bard.
ChatGPT, on the other hand, is still unable to do so.

Export Text

On Bard AI, when you generate any response, you will see an option to export the text either via Gmail or Google Docs. This can come in especially handy for researchers and programmers.

ChatGPT doesn’t offer an export/share button. You will have to copy the text response as needed.

Explain Code

A handy feature for programmers, Bard AI can use its online connectivity to explain the functionality of any code from a GitHub link.

Check Multiple Drafts

When you generate a response on Bard AI, you will see an option to show further drafts prepared by the chatbot for your query. This way, you can switch between multiple drafts with ease, without having to ask the chatbot to re-draft a response.

Voice Input

Last but not the least, Bard AI can take voice prompts both on the mobile and desktop versions. This can not only make inputs faster but can also help users who prefer speech as their primary mode of input.
