WATCH: Supporters Of EPS Faction Burst Into Celebration After SC Judgment

Chennai: The supporters of Edappadi K Palaniswami burst into celebrations after the Supreme Court upheld July 11 general council meeting of AIADMK on Thursday. The party members distributed sweets and burst crackers to express their happiness. 

According to ANI, "#WATCH | Chennai, Tamil Nadu | Supporters of Edappadi K Palaniswami (EPS) faction burst into celebrations as Supreme Court allowed EPS to continue as AIADMK's Interim General Secretary."
 
 

The cadre also performed paal abhisekham to a cutout of EPS. It may be noted that EPS was attending a marriage ceremony at Madurai at the time of the judgment.

Meanwhile, July 11 will always go down in the history of AIADMK as the day also marks EPS and OPS expelling each other from the party. However, after the verdict only the resolution moved by EPS will be valid.

On July 11, the faction led by Edappadi Palaniswami, which holds majority support of the cadre, held AIADMK general council meeting. During the meeting, the party passed a resolution appointing EPS as the interim general secretary of the party. The council also moved resolution to abolish the dual leadership of the party.

The day also witnessed intense clashes between the supporters of OPS and EPS with many suffering injuries. Later, the cadres were dispersed with the help of police.
