Tamil Nadu: Woman With Sleeping Disorder Dumps Gold Worth Rs 15 Lakh Into Dustbin Of ATM Kiosk
The guard immediately informed the bank manager of the ATM about the bag and in turn the bank filed a complaint to Kundrathur police.
Chennai: A 35-year-old woman suffering from depression and sleepwalking disorder dumped 43 sovereigns of gold ornaments worth Rs 15 lakh into a dustbin of ATM Kiosk on Kundrathur Murugan Koil Road on Monday. The issue came to light after Kundrathur police received an alert from the security guard of the kiosk.
According to a report on Times of India, the security guard noticed a leather bag inside the dustbin and open it. He was shocked to see gold jewelry stuffed inside the bag.
The guard immediately informed the bank manager of the ATM and the bank filed a complaint to Kundrathur police station.
Based on the complaint, the police checked the CCTV footage and found the woman dumping the bag.

Meanwhile, the police also received a complaint from a couple who said that their 35-year-old daughter with sleepwalking disorder went missing from their home in the wee hours of Monday. However, the couple within hours informed the police that their daughter returned home.
Yet, the police showed the footage to the couple who identified their daughter and the jewels. Later, the police handed over the jewelry to the couple.

The Kundrathur inspector Chandru also appreciated the security guard for his timely alert and honesty.
He said, if not for timely alert of the security guard the jewels would not have been recovered at the right time.
