Chennai: As the accusation between the ruling and opposition Dravidian parties are increasing ahead of the run-up for the local body polls in Tamil Nadu, DMK president Stalin and Opposition leader Edappadi K Palaniswami have agreed to have a live debate on National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET). Tamil Nadu CM Stalin on Thursday invited principal Opposition party leaders for a debate on NEET and as a response Opposition leader Edappadi K Palaniswami agreed to the debate on Friday.
On Thursday, DMK president Stalin in a campaign among the public in Erode through videoconferencing said, "The Centre's counsel told the Supreme Court that they returned the NEET resolution of Tamil Nadu and only after the information was made public, everyone got to know that the Bill was returned during AIADMK regime.”
"We asked AIADMK about the same in the Assembly. However, the party leaders could not respond. The AIADMK was hiding from the Centre and Governor and that is the reason why we did not get an exemption from NEET," he said.
After the statement, Stalin said, "I am ready to prove the above statement with proof but is AIADMK ready to debate on it? Can Edappadi Palaniswami and O Panneerselvam even say the NEET centres that are there in Chennai?"

Following this, on Friday, the Opposition leader responding to the question, publicly accepted to participate in the debate called for by the DMK president and Tamil Nadu CM Stalin. Edappadi Palaniswami said, "MK Stalin has challenged OPS and me and asked if we can accept his challenge. We are definitely accepting the challenge."
"We will highlight on who introduced NEET and during which government the exam entered the state first," he said.
