Tamil Nadu: Massive Fire Breaks Out At Mettur Thermal Plant
A major fire disrupted at Mettur Power Production Plant in the early hours of Tuesday morning. A total of eight fire tenders from nearby fire stations involved in putting out the flames.
Salem: A major fire broke out at Mettur thermal plant on Tuesday at around 4:30 am in the conveyer belt area in Salem district, Tamil Nadu. The cause of the fire eruption is still unknown and officials trying to find out the reason behind the fire.
As per reports, it took a total of eight fire tenders from Mettur Industrial Estate, Nangavalli, Edappadi, and JSW fire stations to put out the fire. The blaze said to be doused at 9 am.
On receipt of information, the Fire and Rescue services personnel rushed to the spot and managed to douse the fire in two hours, officals close to the development informed news agency PTI.
So far, no damage has been reported inside the power plant and cause of fire is yet to be ascertained.
The 840-Megawatt thermal power plant is one of the base load power plants for Tamil Nadu Electricity Board and has four units of 210 MW each.
