Chennai: After getting a single vote in the Tamil Nadu local body election, a BJP candidate in the fray for a post of ward member at Periyanaickenpalayam in Coimbatore district became a victim for the meme nation. The trollers took on the BJP candidate D Karthik, who despite having a five-member family could only get a single vote.
Karthik contested as a ward member post but couldn't win his family's trust to go on to win the ward. He became troll material as soon as the news was out as #Single_Vote_BJP started trending on social media platforms. Twitterati responded to the news with hilarious trolls along with some witty tweets.
Reportedly, Karthik had campaigned extensively even using the photographs of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and party President JP Nadda.

On the flip side, DMK is all set to sweep the rural local body elections held in nine new districts in Tamil Nadu in two phases on October 6 and October 9. With the two Dravidian juggernauts, DMK and AIADMK at a tough contest, there could be very little space for other parties, which Karthik's result has proven.
DMK along with allies, MDMK, VCK, and Congress is all at its best so far in the rural local body polls in Tamil Nadu. The winners are to be announced late in the evening on Tuesday.
