Chennai: Indian women's team clinched a gold in the International Women Kabaddi Tournament held in Nepal recently and one of the women in the team was Anandhi of Karur district. On Monday, Anandhi returned from Nepal to her hometown of Nallamuthupalayam in Tamil Nadu's Karur district where she was given a rousing welcome by the villagers.


According to a report on ABP Nadu, a 10-member women's team won the international tournament held in Nepal. Of the 10, Anandhi was one among the team members. Anandhi, who is an M.Com first-year student, returned to her hometown after the victory on Monday and was given a grand welcome with crackers and musical treats.

All the villagers gathered in the town and arranged for a band to welcome the young winner. All the gathered people congratulated Anandhi for the victory and saw the medals and other souvenirs were given to her.


During the occasion, speaking to reporters, Anandhi said, "I am dedicating my victory to the people who worked hard to help me achieve this including my mother, father, coach, teachers, and friends. I will continue to make efforts to continue my victory."


She also extended her gratitude to all the people.


Meanwhile, political party leaders also extended their wish to Anandhi since she bagged gold in Tamil Nadu's traditional game.
