Tamil Nadu Govt To Boycott Tea Party To Be Hosted By TN Guv Ravi, Says Minister Thangam Thennarasu

Earlier, CPM & VCK boycotted Governor's tea party.

Chennai: Tamil Nadu Minister Thangam Thennarasu said that Tamil Nadu government is boycotting the tea party to be hosted by Tamil Nadu Governor Ravi at Raj Bhavan on Thursday. The Minister said that the government arrived at the decision since even after Governor’s delay in providing assent for the Bills participating in the party will "hurt the sentiments of Tamil Nadu people”.

On Thursday, Minister Thangam Thennarasu after meeting Governor RN Ravi along with Minister Ma Subramanian said, "The Governor did not keep in mind the emotions of Tamil Nadu people, aspirations of rural medical aspirants and even failed to respect the state Assembly. It's disappointing for us."

“Therefore, Tamil Nadu government has decided to boycott the tea party organised by Governor on Thursday since participating in the party will hurt the sentiments of Tamil Nadu people," he said.

Recalling the previous efforts of DMK government in sending Bills for Governor’s approval, Thennarasu said, "NEET is crashing the dreams of Tamil Nadu students and it's against the rights of Tamil Nadu. Our government's demand is to revoke NEET for students of the state and to admit students based on Class 12 marks.”

“We readopted a bill on the same line and sent it to Governor again. However, the Governor didn't give any assurance to us even on Thursday,” he said.

Further, the allies of DMK, VCK and CPM, also announced that they have decided to boycott tea party to be organised by Governor RN Ravi to mark Tamil New Year On April 14.

The parties boycotted the party by stating that the Governor's delay was ‘undemocratic action against people's interest'.
