Chennai: A school headmaster and assistant headmaster of Semmedu Government Primary School in Coimbatore was booked under SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act and Juvenile Justice Act for reportedly forcing a student to clean the toilets.
The incident that took place on March 29 came to light after the parent of the student gave a complaint to the police.
On March 29, a Class 3 boy used the toilet in school and did not pour water due to the unavailability of water. However, after he left the place, a woman staff informed the school headmaster R Jayanthani about the matter.
Following this, the headmaster and assistant HM Thangamariammal reportedly forced the boy to clean the toilet by giving him some water, said a report on Times of India.

Upon reaching home, the boy informed his mother about the incident.
The next day, the boy's mother went to school along with him and questioned the authorities. However, as HM reportedly addressed the mother based on her caste, she filed a complaint to Alandurai Police Station on March 31.
The DSP of Perur V Thirumal said, we have registered a case against HM and AHM under SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act and Juvenile Justice Act on Wednesday. Further investigations are underway.

Even earlier, a headmistress of a government school in Tiruppur was suspended after she forced Dalit students to clean toilets. The issue came to light when Chief Educational Officer R Ramesh visited the school in December 2021.
In another incident, headmaster Senniammal and a teacher were suspended for making students clean the toilets and classrooms in Dharmapuri, said a report on ABP Nadu.
