Tamil Nadu Govt Moves SC Over Governor RN Ravi's Delay In Clearing Bills, Orders

The writ petition by Tamil Nadu government sought a direction from the Apex Court to the Governor to clear bills, files etc., within a specific time. 

Tamil Nadu government on Tuesday moved the Supreme Court against Governor RN Ravi over his alleged delay in clearing bills and government orders that were passed by the Tamil Nadu Assembly. The writ petition by the state also sought a direction to the Governor to clear bills, files etc within a specific time. 
 
According to ANI, Tamil Nadu government moved Supreme Court against Governor RN Ravi over alleged delay in clearing bills and Government Orders which were passed by the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly. The writ petition seeks a direction to the Governor to clear bills, files and Government Orders within a specified timeframe.
 
 

The petition was filed through an advocate on record Sabarish Subramanian

The petition sought to declare that the inaction, omission, delay and failure to comply with the constitutional mandate by the Governor of Tamil Nadu/first Respondent qua the consideration and assent of the Bills passed and forwarded by the Tamil Nadu State Legislature to him and the non- consideration of files, Government orders and policies forwarded by the State Government for his signature is unconstitutional, illegal, arbitrary, unreasonable besides malafide exercise of power, as reported by ANI.

The petition has come at a time when Tamil Nadu government and Governor RN Ravi have been at loggerheads over various issues including National Entrance cum Eligibility Test (NEET). On Monday, Tamil Nadu CM accused Raj Bhavan of 'spreading lies' on the petrol bomb case at Governor's residence.
