Madurai (Tamil Nadu): A special puja was conducted to eliminate the polymorphic novel coronavirus in a temple here. Vedic mantras were recited and 'corona dolls' were placed in the yagya kund in the temple for the prayers aimed at warding off the deadly threat of the virus that has gripped the country in its second wave.

Amid the increasing number of COVID positive cases and deaths, the priests came up with the idea of this special yajna that was conducted in Madurai.

At the Sri Throwpathi Amman temple in South Kamakshi, one of the Masi streets of Madurai, the priests performed a special yagya to eliminate the coronavirus and help people of the world to live in peace and prosperity free from disease.

Dhanvantari yagya was performed raising sacred fire in the Yagya Kund and reciting Vedic mantras. The priests made a sacrifice by making a figurine like a coronavirus doll in the fire in the Yagya Kundam. Following this Yagya, special pujas were performed for Throwpathi Amman.

Apart from the priests, no one else was permitted to be a part of the puja. The priests performed the yajna by strictly following the curfew rules with only five priests and Vedic Mantra chanters present at this Puja.

"All the medical staff is putting their best possible effort to put an end to the dreadful virus. Precautionary measures are being taken, including vaccination in the country." In such an environment, mental courage and positive vibration are also required. People should stick to curfew rules and COVID appropriate behavior to stop the spread of the disease," the sponsors and members involved in the spiritual work said.
