Tamil Nadu: 4 Govt School Students Drown In Cauvery
The police recovered the bodies of all four students with the help of the residents.
Chennai: Four girl students of Government Middle School in Viralimalai died by drowning in the Cauvery river during an excursion on Wednesday.
According to ANI, Karur Police said, “Four girl students from Government Middle School, Viralimalai, Pudukottai district have died after drowning in the Kaveri river in Mayanur, Karur district during an excursion trip.”

The four were identified as Tamilarasi, Sobhiya, Iniya and Lavanya. The students took part in a football competition in Trichy and came to Mayanur for a site-seeing on Wednesday.
Initially, one of the students drowned due to the currents in the river. Following this, the others tried to help but drowned one by one, as per a report on ABP Nadu.
Based on the information, the Karur Fire and Rescue Department members rushed to the spot and started the operation to trace the missing students. Later, the police recovered the bodies of all the four students with the help of the residents.
Earlier, a couple who went to Goa to celebrate Valentine's Days drowned in Palolem Beach on Tuesday. The couple, Supriya Dubey and Vibhu Sharma, went to Goa without informing their parents. Based on the information, the police immediately rescued the duo and took them to Konkan Social Health Center. However, the doctors declared them dead.
The couple was from Uttar Pradesh. Supriya was residing in Bengaluru while Vibhu was residing in Delhi for work. Further, investigations are on.
The police recorded the statement of a staff member of the hotel where the couple had checked-in. The staffer stated the duo had dinner and drinks before venturing into the sea, the official said, as per PTI.
