The deceased history sheeters were identified as Ramesh and Chotta Vinoth.

Two history sheeters were killed in an encounter by police at Guduvanchery near Chennai in the wee hours of Tuesday. The encounter occurred when a police team led by Inspector Murugesan was patrolling the area.

On Tuesday at 3.30 AM, a black SUV with four members was intercepted by the police. The gang started to attack sub-inspector Sivagurunathan and threw a country bomb at the police, as per a report on India Today.

Upon seeing this, the police jumped out of the vehicle and opened fire at the history sheeters.

Additional Commissioner Of Police Pa Moorthy said that an inspector and a sub-inspector opened fire at the accused at this point. The two injured history sheeters were taken to Chengalpattu Government Hospital but declared dead.

Two others escaped from the spot, he said.

The deceased history sheeters were identified as Ramesh and Chotta Vinoth.

According to ANI, Tambaram police on Tuesday said, "Two history sheeter shot dead by police at around 3.30 am today after they attacked police officials with a sickle at Guduvanchery on the outskirts of Chennai."

Sub inspector Murugesan is currently receiving treatment at the government hospital in Chromepet.

Chotta Vinoth reportedly has 50 cases against him and Ramesh has 20 cases pending against him, said the report.
