Chennai: Malayalam Mission removed the programme coordinator in Qatar after his controversial remark on the nursing community in Gulf during Ananthapuri Hindu Maha Sammelanam in Thiruvananthapuram drew flak from the people. The action was also taken reportedly after Qatar chapter president of the Malayalam Mission sought action against Durgadas via email and voice message.


According to The New Indian Express, Durgadas earlier raised a question about "recruiting Malayalee female nurses to be used as sex slaves for extremists". 


The comment evoked opposition from nurses in Gulf and other Malayalee organisations. 


Following this, Malayalam Mission in a statement said that they have received multiple complaints from various people across the world.

The Qatar chapter president also sought action against Durgadas via email and voice message, it said.


Further, the statement explaining on the aim of the Mission to imbibe the culture of Kerala among new generation expatriates said, the video circulated on social media however contains remarks that are capable of creating a religious division. 


Meanwhile, Durgadas said that he did not insult the entire nusuing community and was just asking a question on Clubhouse discussion.

In the same Ananthapuri Hindu Maha Sammelanam event, former MLA PC George allegedly made a statement racially abusing Muslim community and in a tone of creating communal divisions. Hence, DGP Anil Kant based on the complaint by Youth League registered a hate speech case against PC George.
