Tamil Nadu Custodial Death: Vignesh's Autopsy Reveals Multiple Bruises & Fracture

Tamil Nadu Custodial Death: However, the doctors have not revealed the cause of death yet as they await viscera chemical analysis and histopathological examination report. 

Chennai: The autopsy report of Vignesh, who died in the custody of G5 Secretariat Colony police, revealed that the victim suffered from fracture and multiple bruises before the time of his death contrary to the claim of police regarding the death of the suspect. The Chennai police earlier claimed that Vignesh died after vomiting and suffering from a seizure after having breakfast in the lockup. Yet, the family of Vignesh alleged that there were injuries in his body and raised suspicion of a foul play into the death.

The autopsy report accessed by ABP Live revealed that Vignesh had multiple bruises including on his head, muscles of his face, upper limb and sole of his foot. The autopsy said there was a fracture on his right tibial bone and multiple contusions which were caused before his death.

There were contusions on the front and lower back of right forearm, left upper limb extending from the left shoulder, lower part on ride side of back trunk, sole of the foot, left lower limb and abrasion on right gluteal region, said the autopsy.

However, the doctors have not revealed the cause of death yet as they await viscera chemical analysis and histopathological examination report. 

The post-mortem was performed by KV Vinoth and A Muralidharan, Associate Professors of Kilpauk Medical College. 

The autopsy report also said that Vignesh had a contusion muscle deep measuring upto 0.2 cm above the left eye brow and another contusion deep measuring upto 3 cm on the left side of the cheek. Both the contusion are also contrary to the version of police since they released a video showing Vignesh without any bruises when the family alleged a foul play in the death. 

Meanwhile, the family alleged that police tried to pay them Rs 1 lakh and settle the case. However, they refused the money and sought a fair probe into the death of Vignesh.

Following this, the death case of Vignesh was transferred to CB-CID on April 22. Tamil Nadu CM Stalin also paid a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to Vignesh's family.

On April 18, Vignesh was picked up by the police along with his aide for allegedly possessing ganja. However, the next day, Vignesh's health condition worsened in the lockup and he died within a few hours.
