Former VHP Leader Arrested For Derogatory Remarks Against BR Ambedkar
Former VHP leader RBVS Manian has been booked under various sections of the IPC and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
A former Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader RBVS Maian was arrested for making derogatory comments against 'Father of Indian Constitution' BR Ambedkar. RBVS Manian, who is also a famous Hindutuva speaker, also made an obscene comment against Saint-Poet Thiruvalluvar. On Thursday morning, Chennai police picked up RBVS Manian from his T Nagar residence in Chennai.
Manian was the former vice president of VHP's Tamil Nadu unit. In the last couple of days, RBVS Manian, who has held the post of president of Hindutva organizations and is now a popular speaker spreading Hindutva ideologies, created a stir on social media.
According to The New Indian Express, a video went viral showing the Hindutva leader calling Ambedkar just a clerk who wrote drafts and typed them and had nothing to do with the 'constitution of India'.
He had said, “When we talk about the constitution, they immediately bring Ambedkar. Even the present government is saying so. If you want to give a name to the maker of the Consitution then you should mention the name of Rajendra Prasad.“
"The one who was just a clerk there, who wrote drafts, typed them, proof-checked them was Ambedkar. There was no clause of his. Everyone will discuss and the stenographer will type it out. Ambedkar did just the proofreading," he alleged.
Further, Maian also claimed that Thiruvalluvar was imaginary. He said, "There is no one as Thiruvalluvar. He is imaginary. However, you are claiming that Thiruvalluvar wrote Thirukural but how can you deny the authenticity of Ramayana?"
He also reportedly demeaned Thiruvalluvar by asking lewd questions.
Manian's statement gained widespread opposition from social media users.
He has been booked under various sections of the IPC and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
