Cyclonic Circulation Likely To Form Over Andaman Sea Around Dec 4: IMD

The IMD said that it is likely to move westnorthwestwards and reach near Tamilnadu and Puducherry coasts on December 8, 2022.

Chennai: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted light to moderate rainfall over Tamil Nadu, Andaman and Nicobar Islands due to the formation of a cyclonic air movement around December 4 and 5. It also predicted that the cyclonic circulation may further concentrate into a Depression over the Southeast Bay of Bengal.

On Thursday, IMD said, “Light to moderate Easterlies/ Northeasterlies prevails over the region in the lower tropospheric levels. A Low-Pressure Area is likely to form over Southeast Bay of Bengal and the adjoining south Andaman Sea around December 5. It is likely to move westnorthwestwards and concentrate into a Depression over Southeast Bay of Bengal during next 48 hours.”

IMD said: “Thereafter, it is likely to continue to move westnorthwestwards and reach near Tamilnadu and Puducherry coasts on 08th December, 2022.”

Till December 5, IMD said, “Light to moderate rain is likely to occur at many places with isolated thunderstorm and lightning over Coastal Tamilnadu, Puducherry & Karaikal area. Light to moderate rain is likely to occur at one or two places with isolated thunderstorm and lightning over interior Tamilnadu.”

During the two days, the fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea in order to avoid any untoward events.

In Chennai, IMD for the next two days said, “Sky condition is likely to be generally cloudy. Light/moderate rain with thunderstorm and lightning is likely to occur in some areas. Maximum and minimum temperature is likely to be around 30 °C and 24-25˚C respectively.”
