New Delhi: Amid heavy rains and gusty winds triggered by Cyclone Asani, At least 10 flights have been cancelled to Chennai from Hyderabad, Mumbai, Visakhapatnam and Jaipur on Tuesday, said Chennai Airport Authority on Tuesday.
The passengers, who were to travel on those flights, have been informed about the same a day earlier, the airport authority further said.

Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in its recent update said that the severe cyclonic storm lay centered 300 km southeast of Kakinada and 330 km south-southeast of Visakhapatnam at 5.30 AM on Tuesday. In its daily bulletin, the IMD also mentioned that the severe cyclonic storm is likely to weaken gradually into a cyclonic storm in the next 24 hours.
After a spell of scorching heat, respite for the people of Chennai as heavy rains greet people on Tuesday morning. According to the IMD bulletin, the cyclone will reach the Odisha coast by end of this week and till then thunderstorm with light showers is likely to be occurred with the maximum temperature in the city to be around 35 degrees celsius.
