Congress, TVK Hold Black Flag Protest Against PM Modi's Chennai Visit

Tamil Nadu Congress and Tamizhaga Vazhvurimai Katchi (TVK) workers staged a black flag protest against Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Chennai for inaugurating and laying the foundation stone for several projects in the city on Saturday.
At Valluvar Kottam, Congress workers wore black clothes and showed black flags. They also shouted slogans like "Go Back Modi".
One of the Congress workers painted his body black with the phrase"Go Back Modi".
Initially, the Congress workers tried to release black balloons into the air as a mark of protest. However, they were denied permission to fly black balloons. Later, the police permitted them to hold a protest in Valluvar Kottam.
On the other hand, Velmurugan along with TVK members staged a protest against PM's visit to Chennai.

Meanwhile, the police have beefed up security to welcome PM Modi. At 2.30 pm, Modi is scheduled to arrive in Chennai for various programs. He is also likely to hold a close-door brief meeting with AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami.
At 3 PM, the Prime Minister is scheduled to inaugurate the new terminal of Chennai International Airport on his arrival. He is later scheduled to flag off the Vande Bharat Express train from Chennai to Coimbatore which will ease the travel time between the two cities by two hours.
PM will then participate in the 125th-anniversary celebrations of the Sree Ramakrishna Mutt in Chennai.
Tamil Nadu DGP C. Sylendra Babu is directly supervising the security aspects of the Prime Minister's visit. Local police are present in large numbers at all points of the city and foolproof security arrangements as per the SPG specifications have been made.
