Chennai: The DMK party suspended a DMK councillor's husband for introducing himself as the councillor of the ward and verbally abusing the police on Friday.

According to a report on Times of India, Jagadeesan, husband of Niranjana, ward 15 councillor of Royapuram zone, verbally abused police personnel on patrol.

However, this is not the first time the husbands of the councillors claim to hold the top post of the ward.

Meanwhile, Chennai Mayor Priya Rajan in a press meet on Friday said, “The person who was allotted the job should perform their work. The elected Councillor should represent their wards and work for the people. If the elected person uses the authority wrongly then DMK high command will take action against them.”
