BJP Files Petition In Madras High Court Against Tamil Nadu State Committee Over Impact Of NEET Exam

The Tamil Nadu BJP has filed a case against the government for setting up a panel to examine the impact of NEET selection on June 28.

Chennai: Tamil Nadu BJP today approached Madras High Court against the 9-members committee formed by Tamil Nadu government on June 3 to study about the impacts of NEET exam on the students from socially backward classes.

The comittee chaired by retired Judge AK Rajan with Dr. GR Ravindranath, Dr. Jawahar Nesan, have held several discussions with the educationalists and related officials.

The panel also looked for public response from the people to underline their objection and suggestions against NEET till 26th June.

Today, the state BJP in Tamil Nadu sought to dissolve the committee stating it as unconstitutional, illegal, unfair and without legal justification. The petition stated that constitution of the committee is itself illegal since some of the members in the committee have never been in favour of NEET which was brought by the Supreme Court.

Stating the committee's public opinion seeking exercise a haste action, the state BJP general secretary Karu Nagarajan requested a stay on all the proceedings until an order is passed.

On this Health Minister Ma. Subramanian quoted, "It showed the interest of BJP what it has for the students of Tamil Nadu.
