2 Hindu Munnani Workers Among 4 Arrested For Assaulting Migrant Workers In TN

Based on the complaint, police registered cases under three sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC) including 294 (using obscene languages) and 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt).

Chennai: Four youths including two Hindu Munnani workers were arrested for allegedly assaulting migrant workers in Coimbatore on Monday. 

According to ANI, Coimbatore Police Commissioner V Balakrishnan said, “Four people including two youths from Hindu Munnani arrested for allegedly assaulting migrant workers on 12th March. All accused were in an inebriated condition at the time of the incident. Case registered against all four at PS Variety Hall Road.”

According to a report on PTI, four members intercepted Gowtham Kathua, who was working in a jewelry workshop, along with his two friends on Sunday. While talking, the four members soon entered into a quarrel with them. They also allegedly assaulted the trio.

Later, the three members escaped from the attackers and informed their roommates. Following this, the issue came to light. The workers gave a complaint to the police.

Based on the complaint, police registered cases under three sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC) including 294 (using obscene languages) and 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt).

The police also arrested all four members after checking the CCTV footage. 

The attack by four members against migrant workers has come at a time when TN CM Stalin met the guest labourers and assured their safety in the state. Earlier, a controversy started after a 'fake' video claimed that Bihari migrants were attacked by Tamils in the state. Bihar government also sent special teams to verify the claims and rubbished them as fake news.
