Of the 1,159 samples sent, the DPH has submitted reports of 554 samples in which Delta variant was observed in 70 per cent.

Chennai: About 12% people were infected with Covid-19 in Tamil Nadu after taking two doses of vaccination, said a government report released on Sunday. The state had sent 1,159 samples to the Institute for Stem Cell Science and Regenerative Medicine (InSTEM) in Bengaluru, for Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS). Of the 554 samples for which results have been received, 66 were cases of infection after full vaccination. Among them 70 per cent were infected by delta variants.

The Director of Public Health (DPH) released the details in a report.
