Chennai: An Indian-born vicar has been consecrated as Bishop in Chruch of England with a crozier made of Indian rosewood. The Rt. Rev. was born and brought up in Kerala and then he spent a brief period at a leprosy hospital in Bangalore where his mother was working as a nurse before moving to England.
The Archbishop of Canterbury said, "A wonderful, exciting, beautiful day for the @churchofengland - a diverse, global church brought together in the joy of Jesus Christ. Welcome Bishops Saju, Lynne and Lusa to your new ministries. We give thanks to God for you and we pray for you."
According to a report on PTI, Right Reverend Malayali Lukose Varghese Muthalaly (42), also known as Saju is one of the youngest Bishops to be consecrated by Archbishop of Canterbury at Paul's Cathedral in London during Eucharist service.

Though he had been consecrated, Rt Rev Saju could take up the new role and formally be installed as Bishop of Loughborough only after a welcome service with guests and representatives of the diocese. A ceremony would be held on February 5 at Brockington Church of England Academy in Enderby, Leicestershire.
Talking about the consecration, Rt Rev Saju said that he was aware of the great privilege even while he was preparing for the service since so many people around the world are praying for it at the moment.
Rev. Saju arrived in England during his gap year and has spent his last 21 years in the country. During his gap year, fell in love and also married his wife Katy. He has four children of which two of them joined him for prayers during the service this week.
