Kanpur: Minor Daughter Of UP Doctors Raped By 'Social Media' Friend In Hookah Bar, Accused Arrested

New Delhi: A man in Kanpur has been arrested for allegedly raping the daughter of a doctor couple after spiking girl's cold drink at a hookah bar, reported news agency IANS. Vinay Thakur, the accused, met the girl through Instagram. The father of the girl filed the complaint. Thakur invited the girl to the MG Cafe in Karrahi. They were said to have both smoked hookah.

An FIR has been filed against eight individuals, including three named individuals, by the girl's father.

The doctor told the police that Vinay Thakur had called his 16-year-old daughter to the MG Cafe (Hookah Bar) in Karrahi on Friday, where he had given her a sedative-laced soft drink.

The girl was raped by the young man, who then took her to a deserted location where his friends tried to rape her as well. They made a video of the girl protesting and beat her as well.

If she reported the incident, they said, they would make her video go viral.

When the daughter got home, she told her father about the incident.

The accused have been reported to the police on charges of insurgency, rape, the POCSO Act, assault, and intimidation.

According to the police, the accused will soon be arrested.

According to Naubasta ACP Abhishek Pandey, the Barra Inspector has been instructed to take strict action and a report has been filed against the accused based on the father's complaint.

In the city, there are more than a dozen hookah bars that operate under the guise of food cafes.

Adolescent girls from wealthy families are offered cabins at hookah bars in the name of privacy.

A campaign against hookah bars will be launched, according to the ACP.
