UP: Police Raid Several Places To Nab Son, Wife Of Mukhtar Ansari In Ghazipur

Mukhtar's wife Afsha, his brother-in-law and another aide are accused in an illegal property case. A non-bailable warrant was issued against the accused but Afsha did not appear in the court

New Delhi: Several places in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghazipur were raided by the Police on Monday to nab the wife and son of mafia-turned politician Mukhtar Ansari, reported news agency PTI adding that both the wife and son could not be found.

Circle Officer (City) Dhananjay Mishra said they raided the places of residence of Abbas Ansari and Afsha and their relatives in Ghazipur city, Yusufpur and Mohammadabad.

As per the report quoting the official, a property in the Dakshin Tola police station area in the city was constructed through illegal means by Mukhtar Ansari and it was taken over by the government.

Mukhtar's wife Afsha, his brother-in-law and another aide are accused in the case. A non-bailable warrant was issued against the accused but Afsha did not appear in the court, the PTI report stated further.

Mishra said that Mukhtar's elder son Abbas Ansari had used objectionable language against officials while campaigning during the Assembly elections, following which a case was registered against him.

A court had issued summons to him a number of times but he did not appear before it. Hence, efforts are being made to arrest him, Mishra added.

In March this year, the mafia-turned politician along with 12 others were booked under the Gangster Act for allegedly using an ambulance to commute from jail to a Punjab Court.

In addition to Ansari, 12 people from the districts of Mau, Ghazipur, Lucknow, and Prayagraj were named in the case, PTI quoted police as saying. Police said
