Time To Quest For Best: PM Modi At IIT Kanpur Convocation Ceremony | Key Highlights

PM Modi addressed the convocation ceremony and encouraged the students to fulfill their dreams and go for quest for the best.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the 54th Convocation Ceremony of IIT Kanpur today. All the students in the convocation ceremony received digital degrees through an in-house blockchain-driven technology developed at the institute under the National Blockchain Project.

PM Modi launched blockchain-based digital degrees. The degrees through this technology will be unforgeable and can be verified globally. 

The Prime Minister also addressed the event and inspired the students to work for the development of the nation.

Here are some key highlights of PM Modi's speech: 

  • PM Modi said that IIT Kanpur has been providing the greatest of minds to the country and it provided the students a platform to build something extraordinary out of their lives.
  • The Prime Minister further said that the students who come from different backgrounds in the institute have lots of doubts and queries but IIT is such a platform that helps them erase the 'fear of the unknown'. OM Modi said that now the students are graduating, they don't have the 'fear of the unknown' and are ready to face bigger challenges in life.
  • Encouraging the students to do something great in life, PM Modi said, "Now there is no Fear of Unknown, now you have the courage to explore the whole world. there is no longer the query of unknown, now there is quest for the best, the dream of conquering the whole world."
  • PM Modi said that students in IIT Kanpur were taught by great professors who not only showed them the path to solve problems in class but their teachings will stay with them the entire life and will guide them in their practical life.
  • Appreciating the city, PM Modi said that Kanpur is one of the few cities in India that is so diverse. From Satti Chaura Ghat to Madari Pasi, From Nana Saheb to Batukeshwar Dutt, when we visit this city, it seems as if we are traveling to that glorious past and sacrifices during the freedom struggle.
  • Inspiring the students to bring more developments in their field, PM Modi said, " This era, this 21st century, is completely technology-driven. Even in this decade, technology is going to increase its dominance in different fields. Life without technology would now be incomplete in a way. This is the age of competition of life and technology and I am sure you will definitely come out ahead in this."
  • Talking about the Kanpur metro, PM Modi said, "Today is a day of double happiness for Kanpur. On one hand, Kanpur is getting metro rail facility and on the other hand, the world of technology is also getting priceless gifts from IIT Kanpur."
  • The Prime Minister further said, "In this 75th year of independence, we have over 75 unicorns, over 50,000 start-ups. Of these, 10,000 have come only in the last 6 months. Today India has emerged as the second-largest startup hub in the world."

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also attended the IIT Kanpur Convocation ceremony and said, "To fulfill the vision of a self-reliant India, the country has implemented the new National Education Policy in 2020. IIT Kanpur has set many examples of mutual cooperation with the state govt."

At around 1:30 am the Prime Minister will inaugurate the completed section of the Kanpur Metro Rail Project. As per the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the completed 9 kilometre long stretch of the Kanpur Metro rail will run between IIT and Moti Jheel.  

The complete length of the Kanpur Metro Rail project will be 32 kilometres and will be built at a cost of Rs 11,000 crore. 

The construction of the Kanpur Metro Rail was given a green flag by the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on November 15, 2019 and the trial run took place on November 10, 2021 on the 9 kilometre IIT to Motijheel Priority Corridor. The Prime Minister will inspect the metro rail project and will also take a metro ride from IIT metro station to Geeta Nagar. 

Later, the PM will inaugurate the Bina-Panki Multiproduct Pipeline Project. As per the PMO, the 356 kilometre long Bina-Panki Multiproduct Pipeline Project has a capacity of around 3.45 million metric tonnes per annum.
