Teenagers Targeted Through Fortnite Game, Discord Chat: UP Police Book 2 For Religious Conversion, 1 Held
A case of religious conversion was registered at Kavi Nagar Police Station in UP’s Ghaziabad, in which two people were named. The accused targeted teenagers through a game called 'Fortnite'.
A case of religious conversion was registered at Kavi Nagar Police Station in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad last week on Tuesday, in which two people were named. The accused were identified as Shahnawaz Khan alias Baddo, a resident of Thane, Maharashtra, and Nanni alias Abdul Rehman, a Maulvi at a mosque in the Sanjay Nagar area, as reported by the news agency ANI. Rehman was arrested and further investigation into the matter is underway. According to DCP City, Ghaziabad Nipun Agarwal, during the investigation, Rehman's role in the conversion of a minor Jain boy and two Hindu boys was found and the police have seized electronic evidence and affidavits related to it.
“On May 30, a case of religious conversion was registered at Kavi Nagar PS, in which two people were named & were identified as Shahnawaz Khan alias Baddo, a resident of Thane, Maharashtra and Nanni alias Abdul Rehman, a Maulvi at a mosque in Sanjay Nagar area. Rehman has been arrested. During probe, Rehman's role in the conversion of a minor Jain boy and two Hindu boys was found and electronic evidence and affidavits related to it have been seized by the police,” Nipun Agarwal said, as quoted by ANI.

Talking about the case, Agarwal said that the modus operandi of the two accused was to target teenagers through a game called 'Fortnite'. He also said, some Muslim boys created IDs in the name of Hindu boys and used to ask teenagers to recite Quran verses to win the game.
The accused also used to talk with them through the 'Discord chat' app and there the teenagers were shown videos of Zakir Naik and Tariq Jameel to convert them to Islam, Agarwal stated.
