Stray Dog ‘Thrown Down’ From 7th Floor Of Building In UP's Greater Noida, Dies
The incident took place at the Vihaan Heritage Sapphire Society in Uttar Pradesh's Greater Noida.
A stray dog was thrown down from the seventh floor of a building in Uttar Pradesh’s Greater Noida last Thursday. The dog died on the spot.
The incident took place at the Vihaan Heritage Sapphire Society in Sector 1. It came to light after Surbhi Rawat, president of People for Animals and a resident of Ghaziabad, shared CCTV footage of the dog falling on the ground on X. “People living in Vihaan Heritage Sapphire Society in Greater Noida Sector 1 took the dog to the roof under the pretext of feeding it and threw it down from the top, resulting in the dog’s immediate death,” Rawat wrote on X. Speaking on the incident, Rawat told the Indian Express that Sushmita Jaiswal, a dog feeder and resident of the society, brought the incident to her attention.
However, it was unclear who threw the dog down from the top of the building. Station House Officer (Bisrakh) Arvind Kumar told the Indian Express that no FIR pertaining to the incident had been filed yet. “We are investigating the CCTV footage and then will look into the matter,” the official said.
Meanwhile, speaking to Indian Express, Jaiswal said that around 11.30 am on June 20, a society member called her and informed her that a female dog died after it was thrown from the seventh floor of the society.
“The security guard took the picture and shared it with our society’s WhatsApp group. After I confirmed it with the guard, we started looking for the CCTV footage. After two days, we got footage, but only from the ground floor,” Jaiswal said, as quoted by The Indian Express.
“We were used to feeding these dogs. She was a smart and sensible dog. The boundary walls of the terrace are four feet tall, so the dog can’t jump on her own,” Jaiswal further explained. She suggested that someone had indeed thrown the dog down. “Nearly two months ago, a female dog died after she was hit multiple times by a car in this society. Her legs and ribs were completely broken,” said Jaiswal.
