Man Kills Woman For Not Staying In Touch After His Marriage, Dumps Body In Bushes
The accused was identified as Puneet, a resident of Dhampur in the Bijnor district of Uttar Pradesh. The accused has been arrested.
The decomposed body of a woman, who was allegedly murdered by her former partner, was found six days back in Haridwar's Ranipur area, said police on Tuesday. A senior police official while talking to the news agency PTI said that a man killed the woman for not keeping in touch with him after his marriage. He dumped her body into the bushes. The accused was identified as Puneet, a resident of Dhampur in the Bijnor district of Uttar Pradesh. He has now been arrested.
Haridwar Senior Superintendent of Police Ajay Singh while talking to PTI said, "On July 26, police had found a decomposed body and some clothes in the roadside bushes in Tibri, he said. During the investigation, it was found that the body was that of a young woman but her identity could not be ascertained. In the meantime, a man informed the SIDCUL police station that his daughter had gone missing."
As the investigation began, police identified the decomposed body as the missing woman. Later in the investigation, it was found that the woman and the accused were in a relationship for many years, but the families were opposed to their marriage as they belonged to different castes, police said.
Following this, Puneet got married to another woman in February this year and the woman got engaged elsewhere. The accused was still pressurising the woman to continue having a relationship with him despite the marriage. After being fed up with this, she changed her mobile number which angered Puneet. He then called her up and asked to meet on some pretext. Upon meeting, he took her to a deserted place and allegedly killed her after which he threw the body into the bushes and fled, said a police official.
According to PTI, Puneet was working as a supervisor in a company owned by the State Industrial Development Corporation of Uttarakhand Limited (SIIDCUL).
