Good News! Yogi Govt To Give Monthly Financial Assistance Of Rs 2,500 To Orphans In UP

In UP, all orphans will now be given financial assistance of Rs 2500 per month. The decision was taken at a cabinet meeting held on Monday.

Lucknow: The Yogi government in Uttar Pradesh has now announced financial assistance of Rs 2,500 to all orphans in the state. Apart from giving aid to the kids who lost their parents to Covid-19, the government will also pay Rs. 2,500 per month to children who became orphans for any other reasons. The Yogi cabinet on Monday approved the government's proposal.

The state government will provide financial assistance of Rs. 2500 to such children under the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Bal Seva Yojana (General). Under this scheme, a maximum of two children of the family falling in the category of eligibility will be provided assistance of Rs 2,500 per month per child. The scheme is 100 per cent state-funded.

Children under 18 years of age to get financial aid

According to an official statement issued on Monday, the Council of Ministers approved a proposal to provide financial support under the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Bal Seva Yojana (General). Under this, children under the age of 18 who have lost either their parents or guardian for reasons other than Covid-19 will be given financial assistance.

Those children whose mother is divorced or abandoned or whose parents or head of the family is in jail or children who have been exposed to child labour, child begging/child prostitution, besides children of families involved in begging/prostitution or who have been adjusted in the family/family environment after getting freed will also be eligible for getting assistance.

According to the government, those between 18 to 23 years who have lost their parents due to Covid-19 or other reasons and after completing their education up to Class 12, and pursuing education to obtain a bachelor's degree or diploma from a government college, university or technical institution or have passed national and state-level competitive examinations like NEET, JEE, CLAT will also be eligible for getting benefit under the scheme. The benefits of this scheme will be available to a maximum of two children of a family.
