'Not Invited': Akhilesh Yadav As Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra Set To Enter UP, Congress Responds

After Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav's remarks, Jairam Ramesh stated that Akhilesh's participation in the Bharat Jodo Nyaya Yatra will further strengthen the I.N.D.I.A. Bloc.

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav said on Sunday that he has not received an invitation to participate in Rahul Gandhi's "Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra," as the Congress said that the detailed route and programme of the march in Uttar Pradesh to be finalised in a day or two. 

"Many big events are organised, but we are not invited," the former Uttar Pradesh chief minister told news agency ANI.

Responding to Akhilesh Yadav's remarks, senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh stated that the party is open to welcoming alliance members but the final program is not yet decided.

"The detailed route and program of Bharat Jodo Nyaya Yatra in Uttar Pradesh is being prepared. It will be finalized in a day or two. After this, it will be shared with the constituent parties of INDIA alliance in the state. His participation in the Bharat Jodo Nyaya Yatra will further strengthen the INDIA alliance. The Yatra is expected to enter UP on the afternoon of February 16," he posted on X.

Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi, is leading the Yatra, which is now in Uttarakhand and will continue westward till it ends in Mumbai. The 'Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra' had earlier on Sunday passed through the Dhanbad district of Jharkhand.

The Wayanad MP previously stated that the Congress is fighting against the "hatred" that exists in the hearts of "the BJP people" at a public gathering held on the sidelines of the ongoing rally.

As the Congress works to fortify the I.N.D.I.A. bloc following the exit of the Janata Dal (United), two significant allies, namely the Trinamool Congress led by Mamata Banerjee and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) led by Arvind Kejriwal, have categorically declined the prospect of forming an alliance with the Congress in West Bengal and Punjab for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

On January 14, the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra departed from Thoubal, Manipur. Over the course of 67 days, the yatra will travel over 6,700 kilometers and pass through 110 districts. It will traverse 100 Lok Sabha seats, 337 assembly segments, and 110 districts over a distance of 6,713 km before the upcoming Lok Sabha election 2024.
