BJP BRS Merger On Cards? Telangana CM Revanth Reddy Says KCR May Be Made Governor, KTR A Minister

Revanth Reddy also hinted that BRS members in the Rajya Sabha might align with the BJP, which could pave the way for KCR's daughter, MLC K Kavitha, to enter the Upper House.

Telangana's Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy stirred the political landscape on Friday by alleging that the Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) might soon merge with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Speaking to reporters, Reddy suggested that BRS leader and former Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) could be appointed as a Governor, while his son, K T Rama Rao, the current working president of the BRS, might be inducted into the Union Cabinet.

Further speculating on the political realignment, Reddy mentioned that T Harish Rao, a key figure within the BRS and a former minister, could potentially take on the role of Leader of the Opposition in the Telangana Assembly. He also hinted that BRS members in the Rajya Sabha might align with the BJP, which could pave the way for KCR's daughter, MLC K Kavitha, to enter the Upper House. Reddy suggested that this move might also influence the legal proceedings surrounding Kavitha in the Delhi liquor case, according to a report on PTI.

Despite repeated denials from BRS leaders, Reddy insisted that the merger "will happen at any cost." He took the opportunity to criticise political factions for dragging his family into various controversies.

However, former Minister KT Rama Rao earlier rubbished these allegations. He said, "BRS will continue to serve the people of Telangana as it has been for over two decades. Stop spreading baseless rumours. We fall, we rise, and we fight solely for Telangana! We will never bow down. Not now, not ever! Jai Telangana!"

In another development, the Chief Minister highlighted the successful implementation of the farm loan waiver scheme, emphasising that the government had honored its commitment ahead of the August 15 deadline. He urged those who had yet to receive their benefits to lodge complaints at their respective Collectorates, noting that a reserve fund of Rs 5,000 crore had been set aside to support the scheme.
