Earlier, filmmaker Pa Ranjith has criticised the DMK government following the murder of Armstrong raising concerns about the state's law and order situation. Ranjith, who had a close bond with Armstrong since childhood and shared ties with the Ambedkarite movement, voiced his dismay on X (formerly Twitter). He pointed out that the murder occurred near the Sembiam police station, highlighting the apparent lack of fear among the perpetrators. Stating that DMK came to power due to the substantial vote bank of Dalits, Ranjith questioned if social justice was only for votes. He also said that he voted to the party.
On July 5, K Armstrong (52) was hacked to death by unidentified miscreants outside his under construction house in Perambur. The police have arrested several people linked to political parties in connection with the case. They also suspect the role of supporters of Arcot Suresh, who was also murdered last year.
