Tamil Nadu Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin addressed rumors about his potential elevation to Deputy Chief Minister stating that all ministers in their government serve as deputies to the Chief Minister. He expressed his commitment to his role as Youth Wing Secretary and confidence in the DMK alliance's success in the 2026 Assembly elections. He also said that the post of DMK youth wing secretary was his favourite.

Tamil Nadu Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin said, "There is a resolution passed today to give me the charge to help our CM and party president...There is news coming on the Deputy CM elevation, I said before that all ministers in our government are deputy chief ministers."

"According to me the post of Youth Wing Secretary is my favourite. Whatever alliance comes, our leader will win and MK Stalin will take charge as CM again. Our DMK alliance is going to win in the 2026 Assembly elections," he said.

This comes amid calls from DMK party cadres and leaders for Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin's son to be elevated as Deputy Chief Minister. A senior party leader suggested that such a move would be a "huge advantage" for the party in the upcoming 2026 assembly elections.

DMK Organising Secretary R S Bharathi, however, made it clear that the final decision rests with party president and CM Stalin. Bharathi's comments follow reports of Udhayanidhi's potential elevation ahead of Stalin's proposed US visit next month.

Udhayanidhi, appointed Minister of Youth Welfare and Sports Development in December 2022, played a crucial role in the 2021 Assembly election and the 2024 Lok Sabha campaign.
