New Delhi: Mumbai Police has arrested a woman from Thane's Naya Nagar area for allegedly killing her neighbour over the issue of the position of slippers near the door. The husband who is also an accused in the matter is on the run, news agency PTI quoted a police official as saying.


Naya Nagar police station inspector Jilani Sayed said that the couple and the victim used to fight often while accusing one another of placing slippers near each other's door. One such argument turned into a heated one which led to a fistfight. Inspector Jilani Sayed further added, "Afsar Khatri (54) died of injuries sustained in the fight. The woman has been arrested, while her husband fled the scene. They have been charged with murder."

In another incident, a 56-year-old man was fatally stabbed by two men on Saturday in the Mumbai suburb of Sion after he requested them not to fight, according to the police.


The accused two were fighting over a trivial issue in a bylane in the Punjabi Colony area early in the morning when one of the victim's coworkers smiled at them, according to an official.


He said that the two were arrested on a murder charge under the Indian Penal Code.

The victim and his colleague were travelling along the bylane early morning when the incident happened. According to the official, the duo became upset when the victim requested them to stop fighting, and as a result, one of them struck the victim with a sharp object.
