New Delhi: A row erupted in Bihar after Janata Dal (United) MP Sunil Kumar Pintu on Monday praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP for winning elections in Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan.

He also raised BJP's poll slogan - 'Modi hai toh mumkin hai' (Modi makes it possible), reported news agency IANS.

"Modi hai to mumkin hai. Modi hai to guarantee hai. There is a guarantee of Narendra Modi winning the elections in the country. The people have faith in the guarantee of Narendra Modi and it is reflected through these results,” Pintu said.

His comments came after the BJP registered landslide victories in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Rajasthan on Sunday.

Pintu said that BJP's wins in all these three states have proved that people have faith in PM Modi and his guarantee.

“This proves that people have faith in Narendra Modi and his guarantee,” IANS quoted him as saying.

JD(U) Hits Back

However, his remarks drew sharp criticism from the JD(U).

The party MLC Neeraj Kumar has demanded his resignation. He said that Pintu has won the election in the name of JD-U but congratulated Modi and the BJP, reported IANS.

“It is only a matter of a few months. Send in your resignation and leave the party,” Kumar said.

Lashing out at the party MP, Kumar said, “Doing road shows in Telangana and not visiting Manipur, still Modi looks ‘Mumkin’ to you. Why don’t you resign and join BJP. Don’t enjoy your tenure in the government. LS election is scheduled a few months from now. Stop showing the lust for the MP chair."

After Pintu’s reaction and praise for Modi, there is a buzz -- in the past as well --that many JD-U leaders were in contact with the BJP. However, as of now, the BJP does not want to break the JD-U, which is one reason why many JD-U leaders are silent, According to IANS.
