Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi, chief of the Shri Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena, was shot dead by unidentified attackers in Jaipur on Tuesday, news agency PTI reported. In an alleged Facebook post, gangster Rohit Godara asserted accountability for the killing of Gogamedi. The post, purportedly from Godara's account, states that they took action against Gogamedi due to his alleged collaboration with their adversaries.

Godara is affiliated with the gang led by Lawrence Bishnoi and his chief associate Goldy Brar. This criminal group faces accusations of orchestrating the assassination of the renowned Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala in May 2022.

Gogamedi was standing outside his house at 1.45 p.m. when three to four people on a scooter opened fire on him and left the scene, according to police. "3-4 men came to his (Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi's) house and tell the security guards that they want to meet Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi. The guard takes them inside, and after having tea, they opened fire at him," said former Rajput Karni Sena state president Ajit Singh Mamdoli.

"Three people had come from outside. They talked for 10 minutes and then opened fire. Sukhdev Singh's bodyguard has also been injured in the firing. Currently, he is admitted in ICU. The entire incident was captured on CCTV. The attacker named Naveen Singh Shekhawat has died in crossfiring. He is a resident of Shahpura. Lives near Jaipur," the police stated.

"Very soon we will mark the remaining two also. And we will also catch the mastermind behind this as soon as possible. The remaining 2 attackers fled after snatching someone's scooter," it added.

Gogamedi was subsequently transferred to the hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead, ANI reported.

Expressing shock over the murder of Shri Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi, Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat stated: " In this regard, information has been taken from the Police Commissioner and he has asked for the arrest of the accused as soon as possible. Social people will have to maintain peace and patience. Making the state crime free is one of our top priorities as soon as the BJP government takes oath."

Shyam Nagar police arrived at the scene and combed through CCTV video for any information regarding the attackers. Two other individuals were hurt during the incident, according to authorities, News 18 reported.

Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi has already received threats from Sampat Nehra of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. He also alerted the Jaipur police about the threat.

"As per initial reports, four people entered a house where Gogamedi was present and opened fire at him. One of Gogamedi's security personnel and another person were injured in the firing," Rajasthan Director General of Police (DGP) Umesh Mishra was quoted by HT in its report.

The incident is being investigated by the police.

Earlier this year, in June, a Karni Sena local functionary was discovered dead in his car with bullet wounds in Madhya Pradesh's Indore city.
