Mehsana Riots: Gujarat Patidar Quota Stir Leader Hardik Patel Gets Relief From High Court
Gujarat Election 2022: The court argued that even if the sentence, in this case, is canceled, the government will have no objection.
New Delhi: Ahead of the Gujarat Assembly elections, BJP's Viramgam candidate Hardik Patel has got a big relief from Gujarat High Court. The High Court in Gujarat has given temporary relief to Patidar quota agitation leader Hardik Patel in the condition of the ban on entering Mehsana in the Visnagar vandalism case. Hardik Patel can go to the Mehsana district for one year. During the hearing, the court argued that even if the sentence, in this case, is canceled, the government will have no objection.
On November 7, Hardik filed the bail modification petition on the ground that he wanted to offer prayers at the temple of his "kuldevi" (local deity). Patel's lawyer Rafik Lokhandwala said, "the bail condition that he will not enter his home district Mehsana has been removed for a year."
On 23 July 2015, a rally was held by the Patidar Reservation Committee. A crowd of around 500 people created a ruckus during this rally. And the office of BJP state member Rushikesh Patel was vandalized and also looted. Also, in 2016, stones were thrown at the MLA's car near ITI Circle in Visanagar. The Visanagar court had issued warrants against Hardik, Lalji, and others.
