Maharashtra: 5 Dead As Boat Capsizes In Ujani Dam Waters In Pune District, Search Ops On
The boat, carrying seven people, capsized due to strong winds and rains in Ujani dam waters near Kalashi village, close to Indapur Tahseel in Maharashtra's Pune district.
Rescuers in Maharashtra's Pune district recovered five bodies after they went missing as the boat they were travelling on capsized on Tuesday evening. A total of six people were on the boat in Ujani dam waters near Kalashi village, close to Indapur Tahseel when the incident happened.
Following the incident, teams of National Disaster Response Force, State Disaster Response Force, local administration, and police were deployed for search and rescue operations.
The boat capzised due to strong winds and rains, said the officials, adding that six people had drowned, including two children. Three men, a woman, and two children were among the victims, Indapur tehsildar Shrikant Patil said, according to a PTI report.

The boat service operates between Kalashi and Bhugav villages, he said, adding that the boat overturned following strong winds and rains on Tuesday evening.
Among the seven persons on the boat was an officer of the assitant police inspector-rank who swam to safety, said the officials.
The search operation was launched by the NDRF and local administration and bodies of five people have been recovered.
