The video that went viral shows a few men pushing and kissing women forcibly in the middle of the road while some other men are shouting. Although two of the men can be seen wearing saffron towels, the police have denied any accused’s affiliation with any political parties.
Singh told PTI that the trio was booked under sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with an intent to outrage her modesty) and 345-A (sexual harassment) and 34 (criminal acts done by several persons with common intention) of the Indian Penal Code.
He added that “No woman has lodged a complaint with us. We took the action based on the video that has gone viral.”
He also said that the incident occurred two days back on Friday in the Wallpur area of the tribal-dominated Alirajpur district that is around 392 km away from Bhopal.
According to PTI, the miscreants were visiting Wallpur to participate in ‘Bhagoriya’ which is a tribal festival.
“Yes, we have detained the man who shot this video and another who made it viral on Saturday”, another police officer said. Some locals from Alirajpur told PTI that the video was shot on Friday.
